Curiosity-based science and understanding how things work

We follow our curiosity by observing, exploring, and comparing interesting organismal phenotypes to probe the mechanistic basis of unique traits and adaptations.

We can then study the molecules and cells underlying behavior by using biochemistry, structural biology, electrophysiology, and other molecular approaches.

Our lab obtains and houses a diversity of fascinating creatures in our dedicated animal facility, which has now been home to over 100 species.
